A Hamilton man who says he killed his father to protect his family has been sentenced to life in prison with no parole eligibility for 12 years.
Jonathan Robles pleaded guilty to killing his father with a knife two years ago, in an incident that had been recorded.
Justice Alan Whitten acknowledged that the family, including Robles’ mother, had feared the estranged patriarch after years of abuse.
According to family court submissions, the man was a child molester who preyed upon young girls.
The judge also noted Robles called 911, admitted to the act, didn’t flee the scene and pleaded guilty to second degree murder.
